Founded by Nicole Kurtts, Mend Everyday Essentials (originally named Un Original Americain) started as a hobby in 2011 with leftover fabrics from her wedding linens. On a whim they were reimagined as napkins, tote bags and clutches for a local art show. A successful art show turned into an Etsy shop which eventually evolved into a full time business.
We are a small but mighty brand committed to creating beautiful, hard working and long lasting handmade pieces for everyday use. Our products are made in small batches using new, vintage and deadstock fabrics, making them one of a kind and, in many cases, limited edition. We take pride in the work we do and the products we make.
Every detail is considered and designed to provide our customers with the best product possible. From the rolled hems on our liens which allow them to take up less space and stack neatly and compactly to our twill tape labels which double as a loop to hang them to dry to the hardworking and beautiful metal zippers on our bags we hope our products help make every day simpler and more beautiful.
Nicole works from her home studio in North Carolina where she designs, curates, creates, and ships each and every piece, occasionally recruiting/ bribing her husband and young son to assist.
